Welcome to CMC Academy

CMC is searching for teachers who are willing to extend beyond the classroom to assist students who have fallen behind from the lack of in-person instruction, for students taking virtual classes who need assistance, and for those who simply need extra help. Vocal and band students may also seek private lessons in brass, woodwind, percussion and voice to prepare for auditions and/or scholarships or to further their music education. We realize the importance of face-to-face instruction and want to offer a safe, clean environment for students to learn.

Your main responsibility is exactly what you’re used to: helping students learn, reviewing content with them, explaining how to solve problems, and checking completed work. Class sizes will be limited to no more than 10 students, socially distanced, and masks will be required as we are mandated. Private lessons/sessions will be available on a limited basis.  We are able to host 3 classes and approximately 8 private lessons per hour and aim to run starting from 3:00pm to 6:00pm - Monday through Friday - unless a space is privately rented in advance.

We are seeking interested retired and current Mercer County K-12 teachers who presently hold a valid West Virginia teaching certificate with proper endorsements to teach and specializing in the following subjects: English, reading, spelling, writing, math, science, history, voice, woodwind, brass, and percussion. Teaching opportunities will be first come, first served, and based on availability. We are also open to other ideas and feedback, please feel free to reach out if you would like to discuss other options with us.  We also recommend teaming up with a co-worker to cover in case of illness or emergency.
